Finance Specialist

Our client is a national law firm with offices in multiple cities across Australia. Delivering legal services in areas of insurance, health, corporate advisory, commercial law, employment law, commercial litigation and dispute resolution, their clients include leading local and international companies, a large number of professional organisations and hundreds of individual practitioners.
Reporting into the Financial Controller, my client based in a bright, modern CBD office, is seeking a Finance Specialist to join its close knit and collaborative team.
This role supports the business by providing general finance support across day to day finance processes and projects. You will actively monitor and process jobs on the ticketing system, assist with billing issues, perform credit card reconciliations and assist on ad-hoc projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the business by actively monitoring and actioning the ticketing system to action various finance process
- Assist with billing issues that the secretaries/admins may have which includes but not limited to rates, bills locking, unable to generate prebills, billing to various payors under the same client etc.
- Amex credit card reconciliation
- Entering and amending rates to clients, matters including creating new rate sets
- Provide remittance advices for payments made to vendors
- Supporting and assisting admins and secretaries on how to run reports or where to obtain financial data from the system
- Identify opportunities for process improvements. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Deliver on ad-hoc requests from the business in a timely manner
- Supporting other finance team members with workflows including AP, reconciliation and receipting as needs arise
- Assisting with ad hoc Finance related projects
Skills and Experience
- 2 years experience in an all-round Finance officer role, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
- Completion of Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) and Advanced Diploma in Accounting (desirable)
- Intermediate Microsoft Excels Skills including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, PIVOT TABLES, SUMIF
- Be well known for your high attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Work well under pressure in high-paced environment.
- Be part of high-performing collaborative finance team.
- Superior communication skills and personal drive.
- Excellent time management skills, able to prioritise tasks effectively and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Ability to adapt and handle a diverse range of tasks.
- Significant experience on Aderant (ideal) or similar practice management/accounting system
