Our client is a leading retailer within the home décor space, with a large brick-and-mortar footprint across both Australia and New Zealand and growing eCommerce presence, the brand continues to grow by offering an in-house designed, exclusive product range.

Position Description
  
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be processing fortnightly payroll across the business, for retail staff and Head Office employees. This role is a stand-alone role, with back up when you are on leave, within a high-volume environment, where you will liaise with stakeholders across the business.
  
This role will also be responsible for migrating the payroll system from Preceda to DayForce and overseeing all aspects of payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Smooth transition of payroll migration across Australia
  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees on a fortnightly payroll
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records within the HRIS/payroll system, including employee data, leave balances, and tax information, adhering to data privacy regulations
  • Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, interpreting employment and taxation laws as needed
  • Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports to internal stakeholders and external authorities within required timeframes
  • Train, educate and coach Managers to ensure compliance with payroll processes and procedures
  • Implement and maintain efficient payroll systems and ensure data integrity and security in line with required standards
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to internal controls under relevant regulations

Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years proven payroll management experience in retail essential
  • Tertiary degree in Payroll, Finance and/or Human Resources is preferred
  • Working knowledge of retail sector award is required
  • Experience using Preceda and Dayforce is preferred
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet strict payroll deadlines
