State Manager – VIC

  • Lead a team of 3 Area Managers across 19 stores in the greater Melbourne region
  • Highly mobile role with frequent local travel to stores and quarterly interstate travel to head office in NSW
  • Competitive renumeration package inclusive of base salary, super, car allowance and uncapped commission structure, paid weekly  

Our client:

Our client is a successful clothing retailer, that continues to expand and open new stores based on their growth. They have a sales-orientated environment, with this role being a key leadership role to support the success of their team. 

The role:

Reporting into the Head of Retail, collaborating with other State Managers and Visual Merchandisers, and overseeing a team of 3 Area Managers, you will maximise performance and profitability of the business through driving sales, training and providing support and development. You will be accountable for the revenue and operations of the entire state of Victoria, while ensuring the brand is always represented to the highest level of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the customer experience in every store in the state.
  • Inspire your team with a hands-on approach, through leading by example.
  • Apply and lead the commercial business strategy to the state, ensuring they achieve and exceed store sales and profit targets.
  • Be accountable for wage and stocktake results within the state.
  • Recruit, train and retain high calibre team in line with the brand values and ensure a structured onboarding process.
  • Identify high performing team members and develop them in line with their personal development plans.
  • Coach and mentor, your Area Managers and Store Managers to develop their skills and confidence to achieve personal and professional goals.
  • Be a strong communicator who can lead, coach, develop and influence others.
  • Strong commercial and visual merchandising skills with the ability to trade the business.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 3 years plus experience in state management, ideally with an apparel retail brand
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong business acumen – ability to analyse results and strategies for improvement
  • Strong understanding of KPIS and their impact on the business
  • Experience in leading, coaching and managing a state team
  • The ability to drive a dynamic culture
  • Self-motivated can-do attitude, with the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with a wider national team
  • Ability to be highly mobile, visiting your stores 4 days/week and traveling to head office in NSW up to 4x/year
