“This too shall pass” …I’ve heard many say this in recent times, including Greg Savage, a respected Recruiter that I met a few months ago at a talk, before the world around us started reshaping and we had to socially distance from each other.
Well, 12 months ago (actually even just a few months ago!) we never expected to be in this position, but here we are. We’ve had long standing clients have to stand down employees, candidates that we had offers – have had these put on hold. Employees and employers – both uncertain as to what happens next.
However, with this – we have all been given the chance to take a step back, review what is important to us and spend more time with our families. During lockdown I had to be a lot more available for my 3 kids, all of which are “learning online” – oh how I missed their teachers! More time for cooking, walks with the dog and some relaxation.
We are still actively engaged with our clients and candidates during this period and I wanted to reach out to you all, to let you know if you want to chat to discuss anything related to your career, updating your resume, interview tips or just a general chat – I am here for you.
For those that are actively seeking a role, here are my top tips:
-
Believe in yourself
-
Update your resume – ensure it is succinct and captures recent experience and achievements
-
Reach out to your network (LinkedIn, previous colleagues etc) to see if they have any vacancies
-
SPEAK to recruiters and employers about vacancies – it is a point of difference
We will get through this and come out stronger and more determined to succeed. Some may “pivot” with their career and take an entirely new direction, whilst others will stay within their chosen field.
Stay strong, stay safe and look after your wellbeing during this challenging time…and “Never, never, never give up” – Winston Churchill.’
